I haven't posted from this particular set of stories for a while, so if you haven't read any of it and want to catch up, just go to the label Diary of a Vampire.

I have found him. The male vampire I have been searching for. He is a solitary, not part of a nest, and he is a gorgeous specimen with long black hair, and vibrant blue eyes. He is tall and lithe, but muscular. I have not yet revealed myself to him, but have followed him several nights now. I believe that he has sensed my presence but is waiting for me to make the first move.
Which I plan to do tonight.
I am actually nervous about finally meeting him, feeling like the Catholic school girl I ate last night about to go on her first date. I’ve searched long and hard to find one such as him, even traveled halfway across the country to find what I so sought, and I am both anxious and excited to finally reveal myself to him.
Later…
He lies slumbering on blankets on the floor of my abandoned shoe factory as I write this.
I followed him on his hunt tonight, waiting for the proper time to reveal myself when he surprised me by turning around and calling out to me.
“I know you’ve been following me and while I found it to be cute at first, it is becoming tedious and quite unnecessary so you might as well stop skulking in the shadows behind me and introduce yourself.”
“I thought you may have sensed me.” I replied, stepping out of the darkness. He eyed me up and down hungrily, his eyes lingering over my body as though he were exploring every inch of it in his mind.
“I not only sensed you, I could read your thoughts. You’ve been searching for a long time, have you not?”
“Yes. I came here from Minnesota, there didn’t seem to be any vampires there.”
“Aaah yes, not many settle in the Northern states. Although winter is okay, if you don’t mind that sort of thing, there are entirely too many hours of daylight in the summer. So, do you have a name?” He asked.
“Kiya.” I replied.
He took my hand in his and kissed as he bowed. “It is a pleasure to meet you Kiya, I’m Aiden.”
“Hello Aiden. Nice to meet you too.”
Our encounter thus far was very surreal to me in how normal it seemed, two people meeting up on the street, only not people, demons.
We wandered around and talked for a while He told me the story of his former companion who had been killed by a Slayer a year ago (I didn’t realize they really existed but then, I didn’t realize that vampires existed until recently either). They had been together for over eighty years and he was still very fond of her. He had spent the last year as a solitary, grieving for his love, but the loneliness had eventually conquered his grief.
“You see Kiya, when you have been a vampire for over four hundred years, as I have, eternity can become unbearable if you have no one with which to share it. Yet, I am a picky man and I will not share my immortality with just anyone.”
I could relate to that. I told him the story of my one attempt to sire another vampire and he chuckled. “Yes, I have staked a few fledglings myself, they do tend to become annoying. It is difficult to find a suitable person to sire.”
We reached a public park when he suddenly stopped to sniff the night air. Taking his cue I paused to reach out with my preternatural senses. People. Nearby. Silently we slipped through the darkness until we were directly behind them, hidden by a wall of bushes. It was a group of teenagers gathered together and passing a joint around. With only a glance we formulated a plan and I moved to flank them on the right as he moved to their left.
On cue, we burst out of the bushes, easily felling two of them as the rest sprinted screaming into the night.
“You’re hunting skills are superlative, my dear. I must say that I am impressed.” He remarked to me as we left the remains of our meals behind, taking my arm in his as we casually strolled the silent streets.
“Thanks,” I murmured, cuddling up against him, our bodies momentarily warmed by the blood we had consumed. “You’re not so bad yourself.”
We hunted once more tonight, more for the fun of it than for the sustenance, though the snack was nice too. We were a fantastic team, each reading the other’s thoughts with ease as we tracked our prey, responding to each other’s silent clues quickly and efficiently. It was as though we were engaged in an elaborate dance, swaying to the same rhythm, the melody flowing through us, bringing us together, making us as one, and then ending the whole exquisite experience with a glorious feast.
I have found my companion.
