A Lazy Day in July

I linked to this poem at Poets United: The Poetry Pantry. There's a lot of other great writing there so check it out and post your own link!

The lake was utterly still,
a sheet of glass
spread before him.
No breeze stirred
even the tiniest of waves.
The only movement upon
the water were the rings
that fanned out
from his bobber
wobbling gently and
the occasional plop
of a fish as it jumped
at the dragonflies
darting across the lake.
The rays of the sun,
inviting and warm,
caressed his skin softly,
sparkled brilliantly on the lake.
The sounds of insects
buzzing and croaking frogs
serenaded him,
punctuated by the occasional
call of a loon,
Nature's stunning symphony.
Occasionally he dozed
briefly, lulled by the slight
rocking of the boat
and the warmth of the sun.
The fish weren't biting
but he was not disappointed.
He was content
to lounge in his boat, enjoying
the beauty of perfection.
