I'm way late with this poem inspired by words from Three Word Wednesday. But I've been floundering amid multiple health problems, a gazillion doctor's appointments and troubles with a cantankerous teen. I've been so exhausted from it all that I've had no creativity. None. But, I've been working on this poem for a couple of weeks and I think I finally finished it. I think. At least this is how it is for now.
I picked words from two separate weeks, they were:
evident, illusions, tragic
adamant, fabricate, peculiar
Peculiar fabrications
mimic reality
adamant in their insistence
that they are truth and
reality is a rabid lie.
Tragic illusions
scar a mind already marred
by confusion and catastrophe.
Cataclysmic nightmares
evident in the screams and shrieks
ripping through the veil of darkness
shrouding sanity.
Livid light bleeds into the morning
not even the sun can illuminate
this darkness, oppressive and fathomless.
Corpulent, bloated, sinking deeper
into a great sucking void
tentacles of terror gripping
leaving huge, gaping wounds
that fester and weep.
