Primal Longings

This poem was inspired by a Toasted Cheese prompt from October 2010. Yeah, I'm a bit late with this one.

"She sat on the patio watching moonlight and shadow dance."

She sat on the patio
watching moonlight and
shadow dance
twirling ecstatically
as they frolicked
under the velvet ebony sky.

Stars sparkled with applause
in awe of the glorious
spectacle. Silently she watched as
peace and joy rose within her heart.
The crickets and frogs serenaded her
songs of love and devotion
that refreshed her weary soul.

Meadow grasses whispered
to the leaves rustling among the trees
murmured conversations
eliciting primordial yearnings. .
In the distance wolves howled and yipped
echoing the longing in her heart
a desire to flee the world with its chaos
to run free and unencumbered
under endless moonlit skies.

  2. Oooooh, I love this one. Delicious and fantastical. You capture the longing for the freedom and chaos of nature beautifully here. Everything is so dark and vital and primal and drenched in celestial light. It makes me shiver with delight!
