The Rite of Her Sacred Fires

This poem was written after performing The Rite of Her Sacred Fires on May 16, 2011 in honor of the Goddess Hekate. It was a beautiful, uplifting ritual that moved me to tears and this poem in no way comes close to capturing that. It was beyond wonderful to commune with the Goddess.

A hush

stillness

silence
descends.

Black candle set
upon simple altar

shrouded by shadows.

Chants prepared
in honor of Hekate

Light-Bearer
Goddess of Magic
Witchcraft and
the Moon.

I invoke Thee

Queen of Witches and
the Underworld.

I light the Sacred Fire
stare into the flame
dancing
immerse myself in Your Mysteries.

Guide me upon Your Path
Grant me Your Wisdom
Your blessing upon me.

Energy roars through me
tingling
my spirit soars
my heart sings.

I cry tears of joy
unashamed.

I am complete.

Fulfilled.

At peace.

I extinguish the fire
but carry Your Light
within my soul

always.

Blessed be.

  1. Interesting narration. There is a similar exercise that is done for concentration, to gaze into the flame and let its heat and aura brighten up our insides, much like taking energy from it.

    Nice read.
